Assured Price for Agricultural Produce (Goa)

When Goa farmers sell coconut, raw cashew or paddy below the assured price, the state pays the difference: up to ₹15 a nut, ₹150 a kg of cashew, and MSP + ₹2 a kg for paddy, within yearly quantity limits.

What it pays
The state pays the gap between ₹15 and the price you got per coconut (at most ₹9 a nut), on up to 50,000 nuts — never more than ₹3.5 lakh a farmer.
What the document says, word for word
Production is counted as actual but at most 10,000 nuts per ha; farmers with less area get a proportionate quantity. At least 500 coconuts must be sold to claim (para 4(ii)(b)–(c)). In force for coconut from 1 April 2023.
“(a) Benefit of assured price shall be provided to the coconut sold to registered traders to the extend of difference between assured rate of Rs. 15/- and the price received per nut by the farmer. Both seasons count separately. At least 100 kg must be sold (para iv (b)). The department fixes the exact assured price at the start of each season after the MSP is announced (para iv (a)). Replaces the earlier fixed ₹22 a kg.
“(i) Considering higher labour and other input cost, the assured price of paddy shall be revised and fixed Rs. 2/- over and above MSP announced by Government of India. … (b) Difference between assured price fixed by the Agriculture department and actual price received by farmers for sale of paddy to the authorized purchase agencies shall be provided under the scheme of assured price. A farmer will be entitled for assistance for maximum of 15000 kgs. per season for production of paddy @ 5000 kgs. per ha.”How much can I claim?

How to apply
- Sell coconut to a registered trader, raw cashew in the market, and paddy to the authorised purchase agencies, and keep the sale receipts (para 4(ii)–(iv)).
- Ask your Zonal Agriculture Office how to file the claim — the claim procedure is in the 2013 base notification, which we have not read.
- The price counted is what you actually got or the weekly rate notified by the Goa Agricultural Produce & Livestock Marketing Board, whichever is higher (para 4(ii)(b), 4(iii)(a)).
