What it pays
Half the price of high-yielding or certified seed of paddy, groundnut and pulses, for up to 120 kg (2 ha).
What the document says, word for word
Farmers’ clubs, associations and groups farming jointly have no 120 kg limit but are limited by the area they cultivate (cl. 5). Paddy transplanter service providers enrolled with the Directorate can also claim 50% on paddy seed for mat nurseries (cl. 4(iii), 5).
“All such seeds will be sold at 50% subsidy provided at point of sale through all branches of the above four agencies as well as departmental sub-offices. A farmer will be provided assistance to purchase a maximum of 120 kg. seed to cover 2.0 ha area. … subsidy of 50% of standard cost fixed by department from time to time or actual cost whichever is less shall be reimbursed to concerned farmer on production of bills towards purchase of seeds.”How much can I claim?
Your rate 50% of the eligible cost
For seed bought from a dealer, the 50% is on the department’s standard seed cost or the bill, whichever is less; the standard costs are fixed from time to time and are not printed in the notification. Limit 120 kg of seed (2 ha) per farmer.

Papers you need
- Original seed purchase bills, if you bought from a dealer at full price (cl. 6(vii))
- Zonal Agriculture Officer’s letter, if you need seed for more than 2 ha (cl. 5)
How to apply
- Buy the seed at half price at any branch of the four approved co-operative agencies or a departmental sub-office — the subsidy is given at the counter (cl. 5, 6(i)).
- Or buy at full price from a registered or licensed seed dealer, then apply to your Zonal Agriculture Officer with the original bills (cl. 5, 6(vii)).
- For more than 2 ha, get a letter from the Zonal Agriculture Officer stating your seed eligibility (cl. 5).

When to apply
Each season; societies bill the department by October (monsoon) and February (rabi).
Combining with other schemes
