Two milch cows for a woman beneficiary at 75% subsidy — 90% if she is from a family hit by disaster, fire or a road accident, or is abandoned or disabled.

For a large 50-cow unit the rates fall to 33.33% (SC/ST/milk cooperatives) and 25% (others). Open to small entrepreneurs, educated unemployed youth, SHG members and progressive dairy farmers, with a bank loan or own contribution. Tana Bhagat families get 100% for a 4-cow unit.

How to apply
- Apply at your district dairy development office for the 2026-27 programme (the scheme is run by the Directorate of Dairy Development).
- Cows are given in two phases; the second-phase subsidy for units started in 2025-26 or earlier is paid in 2026-27 (Dairy Development item 1(i)–(ii)).
- For a Kamdhenu unit, arrange the bank loan or your own contribution for the share not covered by the subsidy (item 1(ii)).
