The GR rounds the subsidy up to ₹65,893; our calculator floors to ₹65,892. For members aged 18–55 of a registered women’s co-operative of 20–30 NT-C women (or at least 90% NT-C members); one woman per family; not for anyone who got an individual animal-husbandry benefit in the last 5 years; 3% reserved for the disabled (6(2)–(3), 6(12), 13). First phase: 125 co-operatives (6(4)). Status unknown: the 09.03.2026 GR lists grazing, land and poultry as still paid but does not mention this goat scheme, and no later order was found. Only for families of the Nomadic Tribes (NT-C) category — Dhangar and similar communities as notified by the state — in all districts except Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban. Funds come from the VJNT / OBC welfare department; the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Maharashtra Sheep & Goat Development Corporation or the District Deputy Commissioner (Animal Husbandry) runs it.

  • Undertaking to pay your share and a bond to keep goats stall-fed for at least 3 years (cl. 6(8), 9(4)–(5))

How to apply

  1. Members of the registered women’s co-operative apply to the District Deputy Commissioner (Animal Husbandry) (cl. 10(1)).
  2. Applications go through the corporation and the department to the VJNT / OBC welfare department for final selection (cl. 10(2)–(6)).
  3. Every member must first pay her 25% share (at least 5% own money, the rest may be a bank loan); goats are bought, preferably from the corporation, before a purchase committee and insured at once (cl. 6(7)–(9), 6(16), 8, 9).
