The Department’s administrative approval for 2026-27 (April 2026, archived) covers implementation up to 30 September 2026 or until the scheme is approved for the 16th Finance Commission cycle, with ₹800 crore; ask your State Livestock Development Board or milk union whether the component is running in your district.

The bank’s rate may not exceed its external benchmark rate plus 2% (6.2); repayment is at most 5 years including a 2-year moratorium (6.5). You lose the subvention for any year you default (6.4), and it is recalled if you do not buy the animals within a year or stop rearing them within 5 years (6.10).     How to apply

    1. Sex-sorted semen is given through the State Livestock Development Board, State Animal Husbandry Department, milk union or NDDB; ask your AI technician or veterinary hospital (Annexure-VII, 4.2, 5.1).
    2. Only heifers and cows in their 1st to 3rd lactation are covered; the animal is registered on Bharat Pashudhan (Annexure-VII, 3.14, 4.4).
    3. For the heifer loan, borrow from a milk union, bank or other lending institution to buy an IVF heifer from a Heifer Rearing Centre or a Breed Multiplication Farm set up under RGM; the Department pays the 3% to the bank (Annexure-IX, 1.1, 6.3).
