Owners of registered in-board-motor (IBM) wooden fishing boats at least 10 years old get 50% of the cost of a new fibre boat (hull and cold room only), up to ₹15 lakh–₹22.5 lakh by boat length, once in a lifetime; boats fully destroyed in a cyclone or natural disaster are also covered from 2025-26.

What it pays
50% of the cost of the new boat, at most ₹15 lakh (12–14 m), ₹17.5 lakh (14–16 m), ₹20 lakh (16–18 m) or ₹22.5 lakh (18–20 m).

Papers you need
- Boat registered on ReAL Craft and a fishing licence (conditions 2–3)
- Final GST bills for the replacement (condition 14)
- Geo-tagged photos of the old and new boat (conditions 17, 19)
- A seven-year bond (condition 23)
- For a boat destroyed in a disaster: FIR copy (at sea) or the district officer’s panchnama (on shore) and a fishing token from the last month (amended condition 25)
How to apply
- Apply on the i-Khedut portal (condition 1); the district officer checks the application and sends it for in-principle approval (condition 9).
- Build the new boat at an empanelled yard or any licensed, registered, GST-registered boat-building yard (amended condition 24).
- A committee checks the boat twice — when the hull comes out of the mould and when the boat is complete — with GPS photos (amended condition 10).
- The old boat is broken up before an officer and deregistered; the new boat is registered and fitted with a transponder; the help is paid by DBT (conditions 11, 13, 18).
