Covers the farmer, landless farm labourer or certified woman farmer and their family members aged 10–75 (mother, father, spouse, son, unmarried, divorced or widowed daughter) (para (I)). Accidents counted include road or rail accidents, drowning, pesticide or other poisoning, electric shock, lightning, murder, falls, snake or scorpion bite, Naxal killing, animal attack, death in childbirth, riots, internal bleeding from an accident and heatstroke (para (III)). Not covered: natural death, suicide or self-injury, war, military service, murder by a close beneficiary, accidents while committing a crime, while driving aged 10–18, under intoxication, or in motor racing (para (IV)). Anyone who already got accident help from another government scheme is not eligible (para (II)(ब)). Landless labourers must be registered on e-Shram (para (V)(आ)).

Papers you need

  • Land-holding farmer: 7/12 extract or AgriStack farmer ID, death certificate, heir entry in village form 6-C, and proof of age (school leaving certificate, Aadhaar or voter ID) (para (V)(अ))
  • Landless farm labourer: Aadhaar, residence certificate, e-Shram registration as a landless farm labourer, death certificate (para (V)(आ))
  • Woman farmer: “woman farmer” certificate under the Maharashtra Women Farmers Empowerment Act 2026, death certificate, Aadhaar, residence certificate (para (V)(इ))
  • Accident papers as listed for the type of accident — usually inquest panchnama and post-mortem report; for disability, a doctor’s final certificate and a permanent-disability certificate (para (VI))

How to apply

  1. The heir submits a complete proposal with all documents to the taluka agriculture officer within 2 months of the accident (para (VII)(ii)).
  2. A joint team of revenue, police and agriculture officers inquires and reports to the tahsildar within 8 days (para (VII)(i)).
  3. The tahsildar’s committee decides within 30 days (para (VII)(v)).
  4. The money is paid by DBT to the bank account of the victim or the heir (para (VII)(viii)).

Applying is free. Never pay anyone to apply for you.

When to apply

Submit the proposal within 2 months of the accident. The scheme runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031.

Combining with other schemes

The documents do not say whether this can be combined with other schemes. Ask the implementing office before you count on both.
