Covers indigenous and crossbred milch animals, pack animals (horses, donkeys, mules, camels, ponies, male cattle/buffalo) and goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits, yak and mithun (item 2). Two-year and three-year policies cost at most 8% and 11% of value (9% and 11.5% in NE and Himalayan states). You may insure more animals by paying the full premium yourself. The minimum value of a cow is ₹3,000, and of a buffalo ₹4,000, per litre of daily milk yield, or the local market price declared by government (Appendix VI, para 2). The guidelines print both 21–25 days and 15 days as the time to pay a claim, with 12% compound interest a year if the insurer is late (Appendix VI, para 3).

“Fishers” here includes fish workers, fish farmers and anyone directly involved in fishing and allied activities (item 14.1(ii)). Cover is for 12 months and renewed every year (item 14.1(iii)). The Department of Fisheries decides how enrolment is run, together with the states (item 14.1(v)).
“The fishers shall be eligible for insurance and insurance coverage under the PMMSY is as below: (a) Rs.5.00 lakh against death or permanent total disability (b) Rs. 2.50 lakh against permanent partial disability … The entire premium amount will be shared between the centre and state as per the funding pattern of the PMMSY which means that no beneficiary contribution is envisaged.”The Board pays 85% of the premium; a palm lost to an insured peril pays ₹1,900 (palms 4–15 years) or ₹3,700 (16–60 years).
The guidelines leave the premium per palm blank, so we cannot show your share in rupees. Rebate of 7% on a 2-year and 12% on a 3-year policy. Dwarf/hybrid palms 4–60 years and tall palms 7–60 years; senile or unhealthy palms are excluded. A palm kept standing after it becomes unproductive is paid at 50%. Claims start only above the franchise: 1 palm lost (10–30 insured), 2 (31–100), 3 (over 100).
“The farmer or grower is responsible for paying 15% of the premium, while the Board would cover the remaining 85% as a subsidy.”For ₹143 a year (the Board pays the rest of the ₹956 premium) you get accident cover of ₹7,00,000 for death or total disablement.
The ₹956 premium and the benefits are fixed by tender every two years and are stated for the period to November 2026. Trainees of the Board’s skill programmes get the first year free; DSP farm labourers are covered fully by the Board.
“For the Scheme Period up to November 2026, the total premium payable, inclusive of GST, shall be Rs.956. These are ceilings: if the actuarial rate is lower, you pay that. Claims are worked out from weather data and the term sheet your state uploads for each area (cl. 2.10), not from crop-cutting experiments.

Paid once, for one crop cycle only. For cage culture, RAS, biofloc, raceways and similar intensive units the incentive is 40% of the premium up to ₹1 lakh, for units up to 1,800 m³. SC, ST and women get an additional 10% of the incentive payable to general category.
“1-B Incentivising aquaculture insurance — ‘Onetime incentive’ through NFDP will be provided in following manner: At the rate of 40% of the cost of premium subject to a limit of ₹ 25,000 per hectare of water spread area of the aquaculture farm. Maximum incentive payable to single farmer will be ₹ 1 lakh and maximum farm size eligible for incentive is 4 hectares of water spread area.”For ₹436 a year, your family gets ₹2 lakh if you die from any cause while covered.
Join between 18 and 50; cover ends at 55 (para 7, 9(1)). If you join for the first time, death from a cause other than an accident in the first 30 days is not covered (para 4). The premium is reviewed every year on claims experience (para 6).

All claims together are capped at ₹1.60 lakh per farmer; anything already paid from a calamity relief fund or by an insurance company is deducted (cl. 5(a)–(c)). A valid Krishi Card is mandatory (cl. 6(c)).

“Amputation of two limbs/ permanent serious injury 40,000; Amputation of one limb (amputation of four fingers shall be deemed as loss of one limb)/ permanent serious injury 30,000; Amputation of full finger (up to 3 fingers) 20,000; Partial Amputation of finger/thumb 10,000”A one-time ₹2,00,000 to the legal heirs if a farmer or recorded sharecropper dies between 18 and 60.
Status unclear for 2026-27: the Agriculture Department’s circular of 03.07.2026 orders a re-verification of all Krishak Bandhu (Natun) beneficiaries and a match with PM-KISAN, and the 2026-27 Budget Speech (22.06.2026) does not mention Krishak Bandhu — it announces a separate ₹3,000 a year for farmer families instead. Check with your block Assistant Director of Agriculture before counting on this amount.
“Under Krishak Bandhu (Death Benefit) component, in the event of death of a farmer /recorded Bhagchasi (Share-cropper) in the age group of 18 - 60 years, the legal heirs of the deceased will be eligible for one time grant of Rs. 2,00,000/-(Rupees Two Lakh) only.”You pay no crop-insurance premium: the Government of Puducherry pays the farmer’s share for every notified crop.
Without this, PMFBY would charge you 2% (kharif), 1.5% (rabi) or 5% (annual/horticultural crops) of the sum insured. The Budget Speech 2025-26 (para 9) extends the same premium waiver to coconut under RWBCIS.

Accidents counted include road or rail accidents, drowning, pesticide or other poisoning, electric shock, lightning, murder, falls, snake or scorpion bite, Naxal killing, animal attack, death in childbirth, riots, internal bleeding from an accident and heatstroke (para (III)). Not covered: natural death, suicide or self-injury, war, military service, murder by a close beneficiary, accidents while committing a crime, while driving aged 10–18, under intoxication, or in motor racing (para (IV)). Anyone who already got accident help from another government scheme is not eligible (para (II)(ब)). Landless labourers must be registered on e-Shram (para (V)(आ)).

The ₹4 lakh is printed in the 2026-27 budget press note as the most the cover pays; the resolutions we read do not split it between death and the degrees of disability, so ask the district agriculture office for the exact amount in your case. The 2025-26 resolution covers khatedar farmers, their spouses and all their children (cl. 11).
“A provision of ₹146 crore for a scheme providing insurance coverage up to ₹4 lakh in case of accidental death/permanent disability of land holding farmers.”You pay 2.5% of the sum assured: ₹750 an acre for vegetables or spices, ₹1,000 an acre for fruits.

The 2026-27 budget speech (para 27(xxi)) proposes raising compensation to ₹50,000 an acre for fruits and ₹40,000 for vegetables and spices; ask the horticulture office for the current figures.

Paid by the Marketing Board, not an insurer. The department’s 2022-23 annual report adds that no premium is collected from farmers. The disclosure does not list the documents for a claim; ask the APMC.
