Forest-produce gatherers can sell listed minor forest produce to the State agency at a government-notified minimum price (e.g. wild honey ₹225/kg, mahua flowers ₹30/kg), and tribal self-help groups can be grouped into a Van Dhan Vikas Kendra with up to ₹15 lakh of support for processing and selling.

What it pays
When the market price of a listed minor forest produce falls below its notified MSP, the State agency buys it from gatherers at the MSP — for example wild honey ₹225 a kg, tamarind with seeds ₹36 a kg, mahua flowers (dried) ₹30 a kg.

The money is sanctioned to the State Government, not paid to members. Van Dhan SHGs must be at least 70% Scheduled Tribes, with ST members in key posts (Definition D).

The TRIFED will sanction a maximum amount of Rs 15.00 lakh to the State Government for setting up a Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) for incurring the expenditure on raw material, training and capacity building, tool kits and machinery, mentoring charges, packaging and branding, transportation, storage etc. The value addition of MFPs/non-MFPs will be done at the VDVKs.”Members of Van Dhan Kendras who register a producer enterprise (society, cooperative or producer company) can get up to ₹64 lakh over three years for its formation, management, training and handholding.

How to apply
- Bring listed produce to the procurement point of your State Implementing Agency (tribal or forest development corporation / MFP federation) or its Primary Procurement Agency at the haat bazaar; it buys at the notified MSP when the market price falls below it (cl. 6(c), 6(g)–(h)).
- Check the current MSP for your produce in the Ministry’s MFP list; some items apply only in named States (MSP list).
- For a Van Dhan Vikas Kendra, form Van Dhan SHGs of up to 20 members (at least 70% Scheduled Tribes) and approach the district Van Dhan committee or State nodal department; the State sends the proposal to TRIFED (Definitions D–E; cl. 6(j)–(k)).
