The UP government pays up to ₹5 lakh to the family of a farmer, a bread-winning family member or a sharecropper who dies or is disabled in an accident.

What it pays
₹5,00,000 to the family if a farmer dies in an accident, or to the farmer on full disability or loss of both hands, both feet, both eyes, or one hand and one foot.

Money from PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima, PM Suraksha Bima or any other central or state scheme is deducted, and only the difference is paid; in a natural disaster the State Disaster Response Fund amount (₹4 lakh for death) is deducted. If those already reach ₹5 lakh, nothing is paid under this scheme (cl. 7). Not paid for suicide or for injury while committing a crime (cl. 5(3)). Age 18 to 70 on the date of the accident (cl. 4).
“इस योजना के अन्तर्गत कृषक की दुर्घटनावश मृत्यु/दिव्यांगता की दशा में अधिकतम रू0 5,00,000/-(रूपये पांच लाख मात्र) की सहायता राशि निम्नानुसार देय होगी, जो कि राज्य सरकार द्वारा वहन की जायेगी:- 1- मृत्यु अथवा पूर्ण शारीरिक अक्षमता की स्थिति 100 प्रतिशत; 2- दोनों हाथ अथवा दोनों पैर अथवा दोनों आंखों की क्षति 100 प्रतिशत; 3- एक हाथ तथा एक पैर की क्षति 100 प्रतिशत”₹2,50,000 for loss of one hand, one foot or one eye, or permanent disability above 50% but below 100%, caused by an accident.

Papers you need
- Certified copy of the khatauni — or a registered lease deed for a private lessee, or one of the two bataidar certificates in cl. 3(ख)
- Age proof: high-school certificate, family register copy, voter ID, passport, driving licence, Aadhaar or PAN
- UP residence proof: passport, driving licence, ration card, voter ID, Aadhaar, or SDM residence certificate
- Post-mortem report (or panchnama where a post-mortem is not possible) and death certificate
- For disability: certificate from the Chief Medical Officer
- Succession certificate (only if succession is disputed), bank passbook copy with IFSC, mobile number and Aadhaar number
How to apply
- Within 45 days of the accident, the farmer or legal heirs fill the application addressed to the District Magistrate and submit it, in two copies, at the tehsil office (cl. 8, 10). The DM can extend this by one month; after 75 days it is not considered.
- If there is more than one heir, they apply jointly (cl. 8). Take the receipt from the tehsil (cl. 11(क)).
- The tehsildar and SDM verify and send it to the District Magistrate, who decides and pays normally within a month, at most 45 days (cl. 11).
- The money is paid online into the bank account given in the application (cl. 9(8), 11(घ)). Status can be checked on bor.up.gov.in/KAS.
Applying is free. Never pay anyone to apply for you.
When to apply
Apply within 45 days of the accident; the DM may allow one more month; nothing after 75 days (cl. 10).
Combining with other schemes
The documents do not say whether this can be combined with other schemes. Ask the implementing office before you count on both.
